Multiple short missions to Rocky Point and Caborca Mexico

We just returned from Rocky Point Mexico August 22-25 and accomplished so much including building partnerships with Rocky Point Lions, Steps of Love Student school assistance, Two Fish Ministries, Rotary of Surprise and Rotary or Rocky Point Mexico.  We did Vision and eye glasses, Dental, Diabetes Awareness, Dermatology, minor surgeries, pap smears, Mamograms, Prostate checks, Lions compound cleanup and remodel, food and back pack donations to Two Fish ministries and Steps of Love and much more.  Here is a breakdown
Background

On Thursday, August 22nd, a team from PAALC traveled from Phoenix to Puerto Penasco to set up for the two-day medical/dental/vision mission.  The team consisted of 58 volunteers of medical professionals and volunteers from United States and Mexico, with over 1,392 volunteer hours.  The team provided over 1,336 services with 482 Vision screening and eye glasses distribution, 55 dental services such as extractions, consultations, restorations, 22 pap smear screenings,  11 prostate checkup, 39 minor surgeries ( lumps and bumps and skin tags),  88 people fed at 2 Fish Ministry with 57 backpack distributed and school supplies for 100 kids.  We also did 255 diabetes screenings and wellness checkup and 86 children from Steps of Love were screened for vision, with eye glasses dispensed for those who need them including six which will be custom ordered and will be given to Steps of Love when done.

The PAALC is also rehabbing a room at the Lions Club facility  to turn it into a homework hub for Steps of Love high school students.  Six members from the Rotary Club of Surprise did the initial demo on Saturday, August 23, 2019.  The team brought in snacks, candies and school supplies.

On February 4 through 8 in 2019, the Phoenix Asian American Lions club is embarked on a week-long humanitarian mission to Camarines Norte in the Philippines.  The team consists of about 12-14 American and Filipino doctors, nurses and volunteers.  Our goals for this much desperately needed are:
  • Offer free surgical care consisting of major surguries such as hysterectomy, thyroidectomy, mastectomy, hernia removal, cleft lip repair, and other surgeries.  Major surguries in the Philippines cost $20,000 Philippine Pesos or more or more than $400 U.S.
  • Blood letting to provide blood products if needed for major surguries
  • Vision screenings and distribution of up to 8,000 eye glasses.
  • Distribution of school supplies and slippers to indigent children.
The recipients of the above services are Filipionos who have very minimal or no insurance.  Most of the targeted recipients are surviving on a $2 per day income for a family of six.  They rely on humanitarian missions such as ours for their much needed surgeries.

The volunteers from the Phoenix Asian American Lions club are paying their own airfare, the one-way 8-hour bus travel to the mission site and back as well as their meals and accommodations.  We are seeking financial support to help us secure additional medical supplies for this endeavor.  We are collaborating with a local non-profit organization, The 3000 Club, with a 501(c)3 status EIN#27-3295358 for donations and medical supplies, however, we are in need of more support from caring people like you.  Any leftover supplies will be donated to the local hospital.

We sincerely hope that you will consider donating.  Please make your check payable to The 3000 Club and mail to:
The 3000 Club, c/o Ethel Luzario   1741 W. Rose Garden Lane, Suite 6,  Phoenix, AZ  85027.  We will provide a receipt for your donation for tax purposes.

We will be posting our mission report her including photos and stories

Thank you for all of your prayers and support!
